About Dr. Michael Zande

After more than forty years as a psychologist, I have learned that information alone rarely solves difficult relationship problems.

Many of the people who contact me have already spent considerable time researching narcissism, emotional abuse, boundaries, difficult personalities, and relationship dynamics. They may have read books, watched videos, listened to podcasts, attended therapy, or participated in support groups. They often arrive with a great deal of information but remain uncertain about what it means for their particular situation.

What they need is not more information. They need help making sense of it.

My goal is not to tell people what to do. My goal is to help them think more clearly, ask better questions, recognize recurring patterns, evaluate their options, and arrive at decisions they can live with.

I earned a PhD in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and completed my internship at the Durham VA Medical Center in collaboration with Duke University Hospital. During more than forty years as a psychologist, I worked with individuals facing depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, and major life challenges. I also served as a psychologist with the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I had the privilege of working with veterans confronting some of life’s most difficult circumstances. In addition, I trained and supervised psychologists and other mental health professionals, helping to develop the next generation of clinicians.

Over the years, I became increasingly interested in the challenges people face when dealing with narcissistic, emotionally abusive, manipulative, and high-conflict individuals. These situations often leave people confused, second-guessing themselves, and struggling to determine the best path forward. They may wonder whether a relationship can improve, whether boundaries will help, how to respond to difficult behavior, or whether it is time to make a significant change.

These are rarely simple questions. They deserve thoughtful consideration rather than quick answers.

Today, I offer consultation for individuals seeking clarity, understanding, and guidance regarding difficult relationships. Whether the difficult person in your life is a spouse, former spouse, partner, parent, adult child, family member, coworker, supervisor, or business associate, my role is to help you better understand the situation, explore your options, and think strategically about the decisions ahead.

I am no longer building a large practice or attempting to see as many clients as possible. I do this work because I enjoy it, because I find it meaningful, and because I believe my experience can be helpful to people facing difficult decisions.

If you have spent months or years trying to make sense of a challenging relationship and still find yourself asking, “What should I make of all this?” consultation may help you think through your situation with greater clarity, confidence, and peace of mind.

" What they need is not more information. They need help making sense of it."

"These are rarely simple questions. They deserve thoughtful consideration rather than quick answers."
